Project #3 and Semester Reflection

Project#3 reflection:

In project #3, we used the library database to find online sources. It was a meaningful experience that I never knew our school library had such an advanced resource until Tammy had told us about that. In addition, compared with my past learning experience, it was a significant change because our ex-teacher never talked about our errors from the projects and she only gave point.

Our group searched for the information in gender difference. The information which talked about women’s linguistic behaviors was more polite than men surprised me a lot. I believe that women and men have equal etiquette because we all learn it from family and school.

In project #3, group 2’s, group 3’s, and group 5’s presentations impressed me the most. Group 2’s presentation was talking about “Gender Differences in Language.” Their presentation was great because they did a clear slid to talk about the differences between men’s and women’s language use. And there were two reasons for group 2 which impressed me the most. First, Ally mentioned that men could learn new language faster than women, and men would use easy language to talk. Second, group 2 had a perfect teamwork. When one was delivering her presentation, the other was ready to show next slid. Group 3’s presentation was talking about “Cross-Culture difference in Speaking, Writing and Gender.” Their presentation was awesome because they put lots of pictures to explain their points. And there were two reasons for group 3 which impressed me the most. First, group 3 gave many clear examples to show the linguistic differences between men and women. Second, group 3 also had a wonderful teamwork. When Tammy asked group 3 some important questions from their slid, the other would help their team members to answer the questions. Group 5’s presentation was talking about “Building colony on Mars.” Their presentation was excellent because they did an organized slid to deliver the details on Mars. And there were two reasons for group 2 which impressed me the most. First, group 5 show a clear list to show pros and cons if we were on Mars. Second, group 5’s slid was organized because it had some pictures and not too many words to support their points. All in all, I really enjoin those presentations, and I would keep those new knowledges in mind from this project.  

Semester reflection:

  My original expectations of this course at the beginning of this semester were that I expected teacher would not set too many assignments, and I expected teacher would guide the errors from our projects clearly. Because I had a bad experience before, my ex-teacher never talked about our errors from the projects and she only gave point. As the result, I expected that teacher would guide us one by one. And that is the correct way to improve our writing skills.

  Among three projects this semester, I was proud of project #1 the most. In project #1, I interviewed Vivian about her impulsive obsession of her tattoo. It was a rare opportunity because we had few chances to talk about this interesting topic. In addition, I knew more about my friends, and our relationship also became closer because of project #1.

  However, I still want to improve project #3. The online sources from school library were vast, so our team did not read all of them. And I believed that if we had more time to prepare for the presentation, our team could deliver a better slid. Furthermore, I want to make amend for the usages of new words. When I was writing a project, I only used little words to support my points. Therefore, I hoped to enhance my ability of the usages of new words.

  Compared my expectations of this course in early September, with my learning experience now. It was a significant change, because my expectations come true and I had a great experience during this course of this semester. Tammy set perfect quantity of our assignments, as the result, we had comfortable experiences and enough time to do our projects. To sum up, I am very honored to take this course of this semester. And there were no suggestions of this course.
