In project #2, we read two articles which are related to environmental protection. One is Tourists in a Fragile Land, and the other is A Travel Journal. Both articles discussed the effects on the place where the tourists visited, and how serious that tourists would bring to the place. I believed environmental issues were important that we should pay attention to the issues.
During the process of searching for sources about Maya Bar, I found out that more and more tourist attractions were destroyed by humans in every country. In addition, when I searched for the references of Maya Bar, I encountered some difficult tasks. Because there was too much information about Maya Bar, I did not know how to unify the project. I tried to search for the information about Maya Bar on school library’s online resources, but there was just a little article connecting with my project.
However, Tammy asked us to type the first paragraph on e-learning, and she helped us with checking the first paragraph. Then I finally understood how to start my project. I typed key words, “Maya Bay”, “Tourists”, and “shut down”, and I read the news on CNN. I wrote introductory paragraph with objective exposition, and I used data to prove my opinion.
In project #2, we learned to use APA for the project. APA was not easy to learn in the beginning, but Tammy taught us to use it in a clear way. Therefore, I could understand the correct way to show my references. In addition, in project #2, I learned to express the clear thesis instated of just criticizing the issue. It was important that we need to prove our opinions with data or facts. All in all, this project was a challenge for me. I’m glad to learn APA and the correct way to write opinion-essay.
